DES MOINES, IOWA (February 22, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds announced her appointment of Alan Heavens as district court judge in Judicial Election District 1A yesterday.   Heavens, of Garnavillo, Iowa, received his undergraduate degree from the University of St Thomas in St Paul, Minnesota, and his law degree from the University of St Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He currently serves as the Clayton County Attorney.

This exhibit was created as a result of the creative collaboration between the Iowa Center for the Book and the University of Iowa Center for the Book. The Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center hosts this "hands-on" exhibit which showcases historically accurate replicas of the book throughout history.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 21, 2019) — The Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) on Monday issued an order approving MidAmerican Energy's five-year energy efficiency plan with few modifications. The approval of MidAmerican's plan is the end result of Senate File 2311, legislation passed by the Iowa Legislature in 2018 that severely restricted what the IUB could require utilities to spend on programs to help customers reduce energy usage.
