The City of Davenport will celebrate Military Appreciation Week May 13-19 with banners proclaiming the event at City Hall, on downtown street lights and several parks & city facilities.  May is Military Appreciation Month nationwide. Throughout the week, Davenport will offer a number of perks to active members of the military, veterans and their families.

Mount Pleasant, Iowa: May 1, 2018 − The historic Iowa Wesleyan University Concert Choir and vocal chamber ensemble Primae Voces will present their tour program “At the Round Earth’s Imagined Corners” Sunday, May 6th  at 7:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

This high energy program is comprised of sacred and secular choral music spanning a variety of historical genres and stylistic forms and concluding with a host of American spirituals.

Starting Wednesday, May 2 the right northbound lane of Division Street just north of 4th Street, and the right westbound lane of 4th Street at Division will be closed for stormwater intake and pipe repairs.  The work is estimated to be completed by Wednesday, May 9.  Travel delays are possible.

Task Force recommends building state-of-the art facility at Quincy Veterans Home

SPRINGFIELD (May 1, 2018) – The Combined Veterans’ Capital Needs Task Force, created by Governor Bruce Rauner to analyze infrastructure needs and develop key strategies on how to improve the health and safety of residents at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy (IVHQ), has submitted a final report to the Governor and General Assembly.

Midland, MI — The Quad Cities River Bandits hit two grand slams and scored nine runs in the first inning on the way to a 15-2 series opening victory over the Great Lakes Loons on Tuesday night.  Jake Adams and Jonathan Arauz each blasted grand slams in the opening frame and the team set new season-highs for runs and walks in a single-game in front of 1,103 fans at Dow Diamond.
