Q:  Why is China targeting U.S. farm goods with double digit tariff proposals?

CHICAGO (Apr. 9, 2018) – Governor Bruce Rauner today framed his legislative agenda for the upcoming session of the Illinois General Assembly around two key imperatives: a truly balanced, full-year FY19 budget. To start the process, Rauner asked House and Senate leaders to meet with him to agree on budget basics like certifying FY19 revenues and spending within the state’s means.

Please dress to impress, bring your resume and plan to meet with employers at this public event.  There is no fee for the public to attend.  More than sixty businesses will be at the Belmont Campus from 10 a.m. – 1p.m.  There will be employers in both the Student Life Center Rm. 2300 (inside Door #5) and in the Career Technical Education Building (inside Door A1) at 500 Belmont Road.

Pat Bereskin, Mrs. B, was drawn to art at a very young age. She was 4-years-old when she started copying things she saw. As she grew up, she was inspired by the Winky Dink and Captain Kagaroo TV shows along with some of her Bettendorf school teachers. She remembers having a horrible experience in 3rd grade and knew that she could do a better job than the 48-year-old teacher that led the class. She was also inspired by Sarajane Organ Boyd Fellin, an art teacher who loved her job.

Sales benefit Child Abuse Council during Child Abuse Awareness Month

Throughout April, Child Abuse Awareness Month, several businesses in downtown Rock Island are donating a portion of proceeds to benefit Child Abuse Council. Modern Woodmen of America, a fraternal financial services organization based in Rock Island, will match these donations, up to $1,000.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dave Loebsack announced today that he will be hosting an U.S. Service Academy Day on SATURDAY, April 14th at the Bettendorf Library. At the Service Academy Day, the Navy, Air Force and Army, along with University of Iowa’s Army ROTC and Air Force ROTC, will have representatives available to meet with students and their families about enrolling and attending a Service Academy.

Cedar Rapids, IA — The Cedar Rapids Kernels used a sacrifice fly with runners on the corners and nobody out in the bottom of the 10th inning to knock off the Quad Cities River Bandits on Saturday night in Cedar Rapids.  The game was the first for the River Bandits with the new extra inning rules implemented by Minor League Baseball this season.
