Four impactful solutions to critical social problems of our time were named finalists today in 100&ChangeMacArthur's global competition for a single $100 million grant. The finalists address diverse and pressing challenges:

Multistate investigation probes whether opioid manufacturers and distributors engaged in unlawful practices in the marketing, sale, and distribution of opioids

DES MOINES – A bipartisan group of state attorneys general, including Attorney General Tom Miller, is expanding a multistate investigation into the manufacturers and distributors of prescription opioid drugs as part of a widespread probe into the nation’s opioid epidemic.

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds and Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg announced a new statewide initiative Tuesday to fight the growing number of sex trafficking cases taking place in Iowa’s hotels and motels.

Hotels and motels are primary locations for sex trafficking cases. Iowa’s Network Against Human Trafficking and Slavery (NAHT) estimates at least 50 percent of sex trafficking takes place in hospitality venues, often without the knowledge of management and staff.
