DES MOINES – The Iowa Finance Authority will host the 2017 HousingIowa Conference September 6-8 in Cedar Rapids at the Cedar Rapids DoubleTree. 

The conference will feature Leigh Anne Tuohy as portrayed in Oscar-winning film The Blind Side, Aron Ralston, as portrayed in film based on his real-life experiences, 127 Hours, the 2017 HousingIowa Awards and a wide-range of sessions on timely Iowa housing topics.

CHICAGO (Aug. 4, 2017) – Springfield native Sam Pfister has been named Director of Federal Affairs in Washington D.C. As director, Pfister will be working closely with Congress and the Executive Branch to ensure Illinois’ interests are being represented. He also will work with other governors’ offices to achieve shared goals.

Congressman John Shimkus (R-IL15), among other representatives, said Pfister will be a great addition to the governor’s team.

Quad Cities - The Iowa and Illinois departments of transportation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and other project contributors are recipients of the Federal Highway Administration’s 2017 Environmental Excellence Award for Environmental Research. The award recognizes the work that went into relocating several species of mussels prior to the start of the Interstate 74 Mississippi River Bridge project.

WASHINGTON – The Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa, today approved two nominees to serve as Iowa’s U.S. attorneys. Both Peter Deegan, Jr. and Marc Krickbaum, nominees to be U.S. Attorneys for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa respectively, were reported to the full Senate by a unanimous, bipartisan voice vote of committee members.
