ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (May 30, 2024) — The walls in Arts Alley are getting primed this week for one of the largest public art projects in Rock Island’s history. The Rock Island Downtown Alliance, City of Rock Island, and Quad City Arts are excited to announce artists Atlanta Dawn of the Quad Cities and Nicole Salgar of Miami were selected for this project. They will produce two large-scale murals on the upper-story walls of the public pedestrian space at 1719 2nd Avenue.

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 30, 2024) — Auditor of State Rob Sand has released a reaudit report on the Bettendorf Community School District (District) for the period July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. The reaudit was performed at the request of petitioners pursuant to Section 11.6(4)(a)(3) of the Code of Iowa. The petition submitted to the Office of Auditor of State requested a reaudit of the year ended June 30, 2022.

PELLA, IOWA (May 30, 2024) — Central College recognized 232 graduates during Commencement 2024 on Saturday, May 11, 2024, in Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium on the Central campus. Recognized were:

MUSCATINE, IOWA (May 29, 2024) — Maquoketa, Iowa artist, Kurt Ullrich, will open an exhibition in the Musser House galleries at the Muscatine Art Center on June 13, 2024. His exhibit will explore the Iowa State Fair through photography.

ELMHURST, ILLINOIS (May 29, 2024) — Esther Brown, of Geneseo, Illinois, was among more than 975 students named to Elmhurst University's Spring 2024 Dean's List.

The Dean's List is composed of students who during the term concerned, attained a grade-point average of 3.75 or higher (out of a possible 4.00).

BEREA, OHIO (May 29, 2024) — Alex Minyard of Milan, Illinois (61264), was part of the outstanding cast and crew from Baldwin Wallace University that staged William Shakespeare's Measure for Measure under the direction of assistant professor of acting and directing Laura Welsh Berg during the spring 2024 semester. Minyard, a graduate of Rockridge High School, played the part of Mistress Overdone in the production.
