Rock Island, IL: Teens have long been able to get their game on with video and board gaming programs at the Rock Island Library, and now it's game on for adults and families as well. Starting in August, the library will start monthly board game nights for families on the first Tuesday of each month and retro gaming for adults on the second Thursday, both at the Downtown Library.

Senate Bill 1, the education funding bill, was passed May 31, but Senate Democrats have refused to send it to the governor’s desk, putting at risk the start of the school year.

DES MOINES, IA (07/26/2017) (readMedia)-- Six Iowa farm families will be recognized as recipients of the 2017 Way We Live Award at the Iowa State Fair. Each entrant was asked to submit a short essay describing how the occupation of farming and living on a farm has shaped their lives. Six families were chosen based on their dedication to agriculture and their strong Iowa farm values. Forty-two entries were submitted in all.

PEORIA (July 26, 2017) – First Lady Diana Rauner today celebrated the launch of the Illinois Family Connects pilot program, a universal newborn support system. It is a home visiting program administered by the Children’s Home Association of Illinois in cooperation with OSF Healthcare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria and is available to Peoria County families who deliver a baby at OSF.
