Secretary Perdue to Travel to Mexico, Hold Friday Teleconference with U.S. Media

(Washington, D.C., July 26, 2017) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will travel to Mérida, Mexico, this week as the guest of Mexican Secretary of Agriculture José Calzada Rovirosa. The two leaders will engage in bilateral meetings Thursday and Friday – including a panel discussion with U.S. and Mexican producers, several agricultural site visits, and a joint press conference – seeking to build on the U.S.

New August Programs Mean It's Game On for Adults, Families at Rock Island Public Library

Rock Island, IL: Teens have long been able to get their game on with video and board gaming programs at the Rock Island Library, and now it's game on for adults and families as well. Starting in August, the library will start monthly board game nights for families on the first Tuesday of each month and retro gaming for adults on the second Thursday, both at the Downtown Library.

Gov. Rauner: It’s ‘unconscionable’ to play games with children’s education

SPRINGFIELD (July 26, 2017) – Today, Gov. Bruce Rauner expressed outrage with Democratic leadership in the General Assembly for continuing to play political games with children’s education. Senate Bill 1, the education funding bill, was passed May 31, but Senate Democrats have refused to send it to the governor’s desk, putting at risk the start of the school year.

Six Iowa Farm Families Receive 2017 Way We Live Award

DES MOINES, IA (07/26/2017) (readMedia)-- Six Iowa farm families will be recognized as recipients of the 2017 Way We Live Award at the Iowa State Fair. Each entrant was asked to submit a short essay describing how the occupation of farming and living on a farm has shaped their lives. Six families were chosen based on their dedication to agriculture and their strong Iowa farm values. Forty-two entries were submitted in all.

BOULDER, Colo. – JULY 26, 2017 – Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) today released the state-by-state Outdoor Recreation Economy Report, which demonstrates the powerful impact that outdoor recreation has on Iowa’s economy.

Today’s report shows that the outdoor recreation economy in Iowa directly contributes 83,000 jobs and annually generates $8.7 billion in consumer spending and contributing $649 million in state and local tax revenue.
