Lansing’s three-run seventh inning downs Quad Cities

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The River Bandits fell to the Lansing Lugnuts 3-2 on Thursday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Josh Rojas hit his third home run in two nights. Rodrigo Orozco drove in two runs with a double and made a game-clinching diving catch to seal the Lugnuts win.

WASHINGTON — Coast Guard Art Program artist Ken Smith received the George Gray Award for Artistic Excellence at a ceremony Thursday at the Salmagundi Club in New York City.

Smith, from Pulaski, Virginia, was selected as the recipient of the George Gray Award for his work, "Lifeline," a 30-inch by 22.5-inch oil on canvas painting depicting two female Coast Guard members on a response boat as they coil lines used to retrieve victims from the water.

That is a $2 million expense that will be added to the already strapped Iowa budget. As state treasurer, I'm concerned about Iowa's financial situation and additionally Iowa's leadership.

CHICAGO (July 20, 2017) – Today, Gov. Bruce Rauner again demanded that lawmakers put the children of Illinois first and send him Senate Bill 1, the education funding bill. Public schools in Illinois may not open in time for the new school year if Democrats in the Illinois Senate don’t send this bill to the governor’s desk. Democratic senators are using a procedural quirk to prevent this measure from reaching the governor’s desk, which puts every public school student in Illinois at risk.
