Springfield, IL - State Representative Tony McCombie (IL-71st) today released the following statement on the lack of progress on a state budget:

“With final two months of the spring legislative session in Springfield about to begin, there has been very little progress on drafting a budget. This is incredibly disappointing because Illinoisans needs a budget. We need a balanced budget right now.

CLIVE, Iowa – A Davenport woman has claimed a $50,000 lottery prize.

Nicole Smith claimed the sixth of 10 top prizes of $50,000 available in the Iowa Lottery’s “White Ice” scratch game.

Smith bought her winning ticket at Big 10 Mart, 5310 N. Brady St. in Davenport, and claimed her prize Monday at the lottery’s regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Since its launch a quarter century ago, the Blue Ribbon Foundation has raised $128 million through individual contributions, state appropriations, in-kind services, and corporate, federal and state grants.

WASHINGTON — Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.)  today re-introduced the Saving Kids from Candy-Flavored Drugs Act to increase the criminal penalties for marketing candy-flavored drugs to appeal to children.  Law enforcement reports that drug dealers frequently combine drugs with chocolate or fruit flavors or package the drugs to look like candy or soda to attract youth.
