Here’s a riddle for ya: What has three legs, dozens of voices, and only one eye? Answer: The Rock Town Lit Fest!

The Mississippi Valley Blues Society, which organizes an all-volunteer, award-winning festival, will kick off its 32nd Annual Blues Fest on Friday, June 30th. Gates open at 4:00pm Friday, and 12:00 noon on Saturday, with music beginning promptly in the extended beer tent.  The 2-day festival will be held at its traditional location in LeClaire Park, Davenport, IA.

MOUNT VERNON, IA (04/27/2017)-- Cornell College's 21st annual Student Symposium on April 22 served as a venue for some of the college's most accomplished students to share their work. Presenters included:

The Mississippi Valley Blues Society presents “New York Boss Man” Dave Fields and his band at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, at Frick’s Tavern, 1402 W Third Street, Davenport, IA.  The cost to see this performance will be $8 if you are a Mississippi Valley Blues Society member, or $10 if you have not joined the Blues Society (application will be available at the door).

BATON ROUGE, LA (04/26/2017)-- The following local residents recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

Chuck Grassley of Iowa ranks fifth in the United States Senate for bipartisanship according to a new study that evaluates how often members of Congress work across party lines by bill sponsorship and co-sponsorship. The rankings for the 114th Congress (2015-2016) are from the Lugar Center, led by former U.S. Sen.
