CEDARVILLE, OHIO (January 22, 2024) — The following local students were named to the Dean's Honor List at Cedarville University for Fall 2023. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of twelve credit hours.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 22, 2024) — On Friday, January 19, Governor Kim Reynolds announced her appointment of Michael Harris as a district judge in Judicial District 6.

Harris, of Iowa City, Iowa, is an Assistant Linn County Attorney. He received his undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Iowa.

Harris fills a vacancy created following the retirement of the Hon. Fae Hoover. Judicial District 6 includes Benton, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, and Tama counties.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 19, 2024) — Iowa’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate decreased slightly to 3.2 percent in December amid hiring gains in both construction and manufacturing. The state’s jobless rate was 3.3 percent last month and 3.0 percent one year ago. The US unemployment rate remained at 3.7 percent.
