Iowa PBS Announces 2022-2023 Ready for School Communities

JOHNSTON, IOWA (October 4, 2022) — Iowa PBS's commitment to early childhood education continues with the expansion of its Ready for School initiative. Educational specialists will work with educators, parents, child-care providers, and local partners in several Iowa communities. They aim to implement STEM- and literacy-based activities in classrooms for children two to five years old.

Iowa Business Council (IBC) Projects Positive Six-Month Economic Outlook

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 4, 2022) — The Iowa Business Council (IBC) has released its third-quarter Economic Outlook Survey for 2022. The report measures member expectations for sales, capital spending, and employment for the next six months. If the index measures above fifty, sentiment is positive. The third-quarter survey's overall economic outlook index is 58.75, down 5.13 index points from the second-quarter report.

National Cheese Recall Causes Retailers to Pull Certain Cheese Boards, Brie, and Baskets

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (October 3, 2022) — Out of an abundance of caution, Hy-Vee Inc, based in West Des Moines, Iowa, is voluntarily recalling eight products that include cheese after being notified by Old Europe Cheese Inc of Benton Harbor, Michigan, that some cheese products that it manufactured for Saputo Cheese USA’s distribution may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

No illnesses have been reported to Hy-Vee.

Reba McEntire Coming to the Vibrant Arena March 18

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE (October 3, 2022) — Reba McEntire is extending her REBA: Live in Concert tour following a string of sold-out stops on the fall leg. Reba announced today fourteen additional dates set for spring of 2023, featuring special guests Terri Clark and The Isaacs. The spring run will kick off March 9 in Jacksonville and will conclude at NYC’s Madison Square Garden, marking Reba’s first time playing the iconic venue.

National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Iowa Endorses Kim Reynolds for Governor

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 3, 2022) — The state’s leading small-business political-action committee has endorsed Kim Reynolds for Governor of Iowa.

Gov Reynolds has proven time and again that she is a champion of small business. Just this year, she signed legislation that would lower the personal income-tax rate for small-business owners to a flat 3.9 percent rate by 2026.

BETTENDORF, IOWA (September 30, 2022) — The Rotary Club of Bettendorf is spearheading the second annual Bettendorf Rotary Blanket Drive in the Quad Cities area from October 3 through December 2. The goal is to receive 4,000+ blankets in 2022 which is double the amount from last year.
