After FDA Issues Draft Guidance on Donor Eligibility, ImpactLife Plans for Change

DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 14, 2023) — Leaders at ImpactLife are preparing for potential changes to eligibility requirements for blood donation after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued draft guidance on donor eligibility in late January. The FDA draft guidance proposes a shift that will create more equitable donor-eligibility standards for prospective blood-donors by using gender-inclusive, individual sexual behavior-based questions in pre-donation screening.

Monmouth's Michael Solontoi Publishes Paper as Part of Multinational Astronomy Project That Will Capture “Ten-Year Digital Movie of The Sky”

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (March 14, 2023) — A continent away, on the other side of the Equator, a major project in astronomy is set to begin, and a Monmouth College professor is involved.

Physics professor Michael Solontoi is co-author of a paper that will help scientists utilize a major new telescope being completed at Chile's Vera C Rubin Observatory that will take what amounts to a "ten-year digital movie of the sky."

Large Growth in Labor Force and Jobs Pushes Iowa Unemployment Rate to 3.0 in January

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 13, 2023) — Iowa’s unemployment rate was 3.0 percent in January, down from the 3.1 percent initially announced in December. Meanwhile, the US unemployment rate decreased to 3.4 percent. Iowa’s December unemployment rate was also revised to 3.0 percent.

Rock Island‘s Polar Plunge will take place at Bally’s Quad Cities Casino and Hotel, 777 Bally Blvd, Rock Island, Illinois, on Sunday, March 12. Prior to the event starting, registration will begin at 12:30PM, followed by the plunge starting at 2PM.
