As your Sheriff, I wanted to give citizens of Whiteside County an update on the recent passage of HB 54 71, also known as the Protect Illinois Communities Act. 

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 11, 2023) — Yesterday, Governor Kim Reynolds announced during her Condition of the State address a new $15 million round of funding targeted at growing Registered Apprenticeship (RA) programs across high-demand fields in health-care. The expanded Health Careers Registered Apprenticeship Program will support more programs that help Iowa meet the demand of its health-care workforce.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 11, 2023) — Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird has filed suit on behalf of the State of Iowa against C6-Zero and its owner, Howard Brand, in Iowa County District Court, seeking immediate compliance with an emergency order of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Iowa environmental laws. The suit seeks to prevent imminent threat to public health and the environment arising from a devastating explosion and fire at the C6-Zero facility on December 8, 2022.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 11, 2023) — St Ambrose University (SAU) will host an in-person open house on Friday, January 20, 2-5PM, for students interested in pursuing a graduate degree. The three-hour event invites undergraduate students or professionals with a completed Bachelor’s degree to meet with faculty and staff and tour SAU’s state-of-the-art facilities to learn more about beginning studies as early as the fall 2023 semester.
