Holiday Closings for Waste Commission of Scott County

DAVENPORT, IOWA (December 20, 2022) — Waste Commission of Scott County facilities will close at noon Friday, December 23, and will remain closed through Monday, December 26. Facilities will reopen on Tuesday, December 27.

The Landfill will be open normal hours on Saturday, December 31. Facilities will be closed Monday, January 2, in observance of New Year’s Day. All facilities will reopen Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

The Library Wants Your Gently-Used Formal Wear

We are accepting donations of clean and gently-used dresses, suits, blazers, dress pants, ties, bow-ties, and formal purses, BUT NO shoes or jewelry at this time.

Andrew Van Nattan of Bettendorf, Iowa, Earns Degree from Chadron State College

CHADRON, NEBRASKA (December 19, 2022) — Chadron State College's combined undergraduate and graduate winter commencement exercises were canceled December 16, due to heavy snowfall and high winds. The list of candidates includes summer graduates and consists of 71 names for Master's degrees and for 108 Bachelor's degrees. Students who wish to, are invited to walk in the May ceremony.

Collaborative Effort Raises More Than $200,000 for River Bend Food Bank to Meet Emergency Needs This Winter

Local Students Among 1,288 Awarded Degrees during University of Nebraska-Lincoln December Ceremonies

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA (December 19, 2022) — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln conferred 1,288 degrees during commencement exercises December 16 and 17 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The 1,262 graduates are from fifty countries, 41 states, and more than 170 Nebraska communities.

Monmouth College Students Maddie Blaesing, Maddie Wilson to Compete in Miss Illinois County Fair Pageant

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (December 19, 2022) — When 74 young women compete January 20-22 in the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield, Monmouth College, will be well represented.

Juniors Maddie Blaesing of Monmouth and Maddie Wilson of Wyoming, Illinois, earned the right to compete during the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs as winners of the pageants in Warren and Stark County, respectively.
