SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA (January 6, 2025) — Governor Tim Walz on January 3, 2025, approved a recommendation from the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) for $1,267,000 from the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF) to address the novel and escalating threat posed to wildlife by highly-pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), commonly known as "bird flu," in Minnesota.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 3, 2025) — Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird and the Department of Public Safety are warning Iowans to be aware of a new wave of “grandparent scams.” Several Iowa communities throughout the state have recently reported efforts by criminal groups to swindle predominately older Iowans.

This scam is not new — the Attorney General’s Office has been warning Iowans about the grandparent scam since at least 2008.
