LENEXA, KANSAS (April 30, 2020) — The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has identified numerous companies and individuals who have manufactured and sold both hardware and software specifically designed to defeat required emissions controls on vehicles and engines used on public roads as well as on nonroad vehicles and engines.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 30, 2020) — Today, the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of 302 additional positive cases for a total of 7,145 positive cases. There have been an additional 1,028 negative tests for a total of 35,552 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 30, 2020) — Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller has filed five lawsuits this week in Black Hawk, Cerro Gordo, Delaware, and Des Moines counties over alleged violations of the “Iowa One Call” law.

Two of the lawsuits were resolved with defendants paying a civil penalty. In four of the cases, the defendants were alleged to have damaged underground natural-gas or water lines.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 30, 2020) — The number of initial claims in Iowa, filed between Sunday, April 19, and Saturday, April 25, was 28,827. There were 27,115 initial claims by individuals who work and live in Iowa, and 1,712 claims by individuals who work in Iowa and live in another state. 

The number of continuing weekly unemployment claims was 170,990.

Unemployment insurance benefit payments totaled $51,408,623.02 for the same week.
