On March 12, the New York Federal Reserve announced a $1.5 trillion injection of money into the US financial system. Three days later, it cut its benchmark interest rate to zero and announced it would be buying at least $500 billion in government bonds and another $200 billion in mortgage securities.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 15, 2020) — School boards received important clarity tonight from Governor Kim Reynolds that school closures must occur for four weeks to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) calls on school boards to take seriously the health emergency, moving to school closures as quickly as possible.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 14, 2020) — The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of one additional positive case of an Iowan with COVID-19, for a total of 18 positive cases. The individual is an older adult age 61-80, and a resident of Dallas County.

Additionally, IDPH has determined, based on the new COVID-19 case and the announcement this evening of community spread in Omaha, Nebraska, there is now community spread in our state.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 13, 2020) — The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of one additional positive case of 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in an Iowa resident, for a total of 17 positive cases. This individual was tested in Nebraska, and is now recovering under isolation. Testing at Iowa’s State Hygienic Laboratory today has indicated no additional positive cases. All positive cases in Iowa at this time are travel related.
