Since tax reform was enacted in 2017, our economy has grown and strengthened, with American families and businesses seeing real benefits. Unemployment rates have dropped dramatically, with unemployment among Hispanic, Latino, and African-American workers at record lows.

WASHINGTON DC (February 11, 2020) — Senators Charles "Chuck" Grassley (R-IA) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) introduced bipartisan legislation to require the military to establish a “Safe to Report” policy. According to a Department of Defense report, in fiscal year 2018, only 30% of sexual assaults in the military were reported.

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (February 11, 2020) — Varun Vedula of Bettendorf, Iowa, earned the distinction of Faculty Honors for Fall 2019 at the Georgia Institute of Technology. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have a 4.0 academic average for the semester.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 11, 2020) — Iowa State Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald is awarding a $1,000 College Savings Iowa contribution to Craig Ingamells of Manchester and his 15-year-old nephew, Brett. Craig's submission for Brett was randomly selected to receive the giveaway contribution after Craig entered the College Savings Iowa's Year-End giveaway during November and December 2019.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 11, 2020) — A Polk County judge has ordered a Quad Cities-based telemarketing operation to pay nearly $2.6 million and permanently banned it from doing business after finding the operation had defrauded small businesses across the nation.

Polk County District Judge Heather Lauber granted Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller’s request for summary judgment against owner Alphonso Barnum of Davenport, several of his associates, and 10 companies.
