"The Iowa Caucuses are the foundation of how our parties and our nation select their next President, and generations of Iowa voters know how seriously we all take that responsibility. This situation is disappointing, and requires accountability and transparency moving forward.

WASHINGTON DC (February 4, 2020) — Senator Charles "Chuck" Grassley, in his capacity as President pro tempore of the United States Senate, will accompany President Donald Trump into the chamber of the House of Representatives for the 68th annual State of the Union address as a member of the president’s escort committee.

DULUTH, MINNESOTA (February 4, 2020) — The College of St Scholastica has announced graduate students whose degrees have been conferred for the Fall 2019 semester. Trisha Gehler of Bettendorf, Iowa, graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

St Scholastica held its Fall 2019 Commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 14 on campus.

As I write this, US president Donald Trump has yet to deliver his 2020 State of the Union address. For two reasons, we don't have to wait for that speech, or for the Democratic response, to discuss the state of the union. First, we know that he'll say what presidents always say (the state of the union is strong, etc, because of his policies) and that the Democratic response will be the standard opposition party response (the state of the union would be better if we were in charge).

DANVILLE, ILLINOIS (February 4, 2020) — Nathan Kelly of Milan, IL, graduated from Lakeview College of Nursing during the College's fall commencement ceremony held in Danville, IL. Kelly earned a bachelor of science in nursing degree through the College's Charleston location.

He is a 2015 graduate of Sherrard High School.

He is the son of Jackie and Kevin Kelly of Milan, Illinois.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 4, 2020) — Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and Sens Charles "Chuck" Grassley and Joni Ernst released the following joint statement regarding Iowa’s presidential caucuses:

WASHINGTON DC (February 3, 2020) — Following the conclusion of presentations in the Senate’s impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the Senate’s president pro tempore, announced that the House’s case falls well short of the constitutional bar to remove a sitting president. In an address on the Senate floor, Grassley criticized the House’s flawed process and evolving arguments, and expressed the importance of respecting precedent.
