Returning to the area for its incredible 105th year, an eagerly awaited six-day festival boasting games, competitions, vendors, and concert sets by more than two dozen national and local acts returns with the 2025 Mississippi Valley Fair, its July 29 through August 3 engagement at Davenport's Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds boasting, as always, grandstand performances by chart-toppers, multi-platinum sellers, and multiple-award winners.
On July 29, the Mississippi Valley Fair's grandstand stage welcomes country and R&B artist Kane Brown, who released his debut EP Closer in June of 2015 and followed it with the single "Used to Love You Sober" that October. He released his eponymous debut studio album two months later, the album spawned the hit single single "What Ifs" (featuring Lauren Alaina), and by 2017, Brown had become the first artist to have simultaneous number ones on all five main Billboard country charts. Currently, he's the recipient of five American Music Awards and five CMT Music Awards.
Country artist Nate Smith serves as grandstand headliner on July 30, and has accumulated more than 1.6 billion career streams since his song "Wildfire" went viral on TikTok in 2020. Over the past five years, Smith has gone on to score two chart-topping records (Whiskey on You and World on Fire), three top fives, and has enjoyed gold and platinum sales, sold-out shows across the United States, and "Best New Artist" nominations from awards bodies including the ACM Awards, CMT Awards, and iHeart Radio Awards.
July 31 brings with it a pair of co-headliners in 3OH!3 and TLC. 3OH!3 are perhaps best-known for their breakthrough hit single "Don't Trust Me" from their second album Want, which reached number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. The synth-pop and alt-rock musicians gained further recognition, however, by featuring Kesha on the song "My First Kiss" from their third album Streets of Gold, which peaked at number seven on the Billboard 200. Meanwhile, TLC is the girl group that delivered nine top-10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including four number-one singles: "Creep," "Waterfalls," "No Scrubs," and "Unpretty." The band also recorded four multi-platinum albums, including 1994's CrazySexyCool, which received a diamond certification from the RIAA.
On August 1, Third Eye Blind takes the grandstand stage at the Mississippi Valley Fair, their albums Third Eye Blind and Blue, respectively, certified platinum six times and single platinum in the United States. Many of their individual songs have been spectacular commercial successes, as well, with "Semi-Charmed Life,” "Jumper,” and "How's It Going to Be,” all reaching the Top 10 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and "Never Let You Go" reaching the Top 20. To date, Third Eye Blind has sold roughly 12 million records worldwide.
Another co-headlining set comes with the August 2 two-fer of Lit and Pop Evil. Formed in 1988 in Orange County, California, Lit has thus far released seven studio albums, and are likely best known for their 1999 album A Place in the Sun, which featured the hit single "My Own Worst Enemy." "Zip-Lock" and "Miserable" were also wildly successful, leading to the album receiving platinum certification and additional hits scored with recordings including Atomic, These Are the Days, and Tastes Like Gold. The chart-topping rockers of Pop Evil enjoyed a number-one smash on the Billboard Hard Rock charts with 2011's War of Ages, as well as top-three placement for the subsequent Onyx, Up, and their eponymous 2018 release. The musicians are currently touring in support of their March release What Remains.
And on the final day of the fair, the August 3 grandstand headliner is Nashville's country singer/songwriter Jon Pardi, Signed to Capitol Nashville, he has released five studio albums: Write You a Song (2014), California Sunrise (2016), Heartache Medication (2019), Mr. Saturday Night (2022), and this year's Honkytonk Hollywood. Pardi has also charted 14 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, of which four have hit number one on the latter: "Head Over Boots," "Dirt on My Boots," "Heartache Medication," and "Last Night Lonely."
With the fair's July 29 through August 3 events including animal shows, arts-and-crafts activities, games, parades, displays, and much more, in excess of three dozen additional area bands and performers will entertain crowds at the fairgrounds' Pavilion, Farmer's Tent, Oldies Tent, Variety Tent, MH Entertainment, and Craft Beer Tent stages.
