Andy Beningo at the Ohnward Fine Arts Center -- September 27.
Saturday, September 27, 7 p.m.
Ohward Fine Arts Center, 1215 East Platt Street, Maquoketa IA
Having established himself as one of the most in-demand comedians working today, his professional career boasting more than 3,500 career performances to date, touring funnyman Andy Beningo brings his standup concert to Maquoketa's Ohnward Fine Arts Center on September 27, his new movie The Road Dog now available for viewing on Amazon and Apple TV.
Hailed for his clean "everyman" style, the 23-year-old Chicago resident Beningo has been named one of the 40 Best Up and Coming Comedians in the country, as well as "Best Comedian" by both the Detroit Metro Times and Detroit Hour magazine. Beningo has appeared on AXS TV's Gotham Comedy Live, CMT's Next Big Comic, and on Drybar Comedy- where his special Adorable Tough Guy generated more than 6 million views on social media. The standup has been heard on radio's nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Show, and was a special guest on Larry the Cable Guy's Weekly Round Up on Sirius XM radio. His first comedy album Quiet Coyote regularly plays on Laugh USA, and Beningo's ability to find humor in subjects such as growing up the middle child, his short-lived career as a middle-school teacher, and our society's obsession with technology has made him a crowd favorite with audiences worldwide.
Beningo performs in a variety of events, including corporate shows for Fortune 500 companies, in church functions, and on cruise ships. He has performed in all 50 states, and has entertained audiences in Canada, Europe and in the Caribbean Islands. When he's not headlining his own events, Beningo regularly tours with Frank Caliendo in some of the top comedy clubs in the country, including Gotham Comedy Club in New York City, The Funny Bone and Improv chain, and ACME Comedy Club in Minneapolis. Comedy Festival performances have included: Gilda's LaughFest in Grand Rapids, Michigan (where he was the warm up act for Betty White's sold out show at the DeVos Center), Live Laughs Festival (as one of the festivals headliners), the Detroit Comedy Festival, the Great American Comedy Festival (at the Johnny Carson theater), the Traverse City Comedy Festival, and the Comedy on the River Festival in Mark Twain's hometown of Hannibal, Missouri.
In 2022, Beningo's stand up special, Live at Woodside became available on the new Faithchannel streaming site. The special earned him an award for "Best in Clean Comedy" at the Eternal Friends Network Christian TV Awards. Beningo was also nominated for Comedian of the Year by the AMG Heritage Awards. Other radio and small television appearances throughout the years include: being heard on Chick McGee's Off the Air Podcast, and overseas on the American Forces Network. Appearances on the NBC affiliate show Night Shift with Kevin Ferguson, the Comedy Time Network, Comcast Cable's Open Mic, and on MavTV have been well received. Beningo won the Clean Guys Unbleepable Contest, and his stand-up clip on text messaging premiered before Dave Coulier's Clean Guys of Comedy movie that was in more than 600 movie theaters nationwide. He became a favorite on Rooftop Comedy, where his material was highlighted on three different TV shows, including the animated series Comedy Cut Outs. Rooftop also tapped him to host the National College Competition presented by TBS at both Michigan State and the University of Michigan, and in 2023, Beningo performed with the Bored Teachers Tour at the Temple Theater in Saginaw, Michigan.
