A Midwestern comedian, New York Times bestselling author, Emmy-winning journalist, and musician whose content for his various social platforms has amassed more than 10 million followers, Charlie Berens brings his "The Lost & Found Tour" to Davenport's Adler Theatre on March 8, the Wisconsin native famed for his appearances on Comedy Central, Funny or Die, and MTV News.
Based in Milwaukee and a University of Wisconsin–Madison graduate whose observational humor routinely focuses on the Midwest, Berens began his career working for MTV News' Choose or Lose. He subsequently worked in front of and behind the camera for emerging YouTube news channels, and in 2012, Tribune Media tapped Berens to host the comedic news show Nightcap. In 2013, he won an Emmy Award for "The Cost of Water" while reporting for KDAF, and the following year, CBS Sports Network hired Berens to host the sports game show You’re So Money. Also in 2014, PMC made him the host of their comedy/entertainment news brand @Hollywood, for which Berens has interviewed hundreds of celebrities, politicians, actors, and musicians.
In 2017, Berens began hosting his weekly comedic online news show The Manitowoc Minute, and since then, he has been creating Midwest-focused sketch-comedy videos on his social-media platforms and has traveled the country with four sold-out stand-up comedy tours. The author of New York Times bestseller The Midwest Survival Guide, Berens' recent "Good Old Fashioned Tour" played 127 shows in 88 cities and was shot as a follow-up special to his 2023 one hour debut, Midwest Goodbye. In his free time, Berens hosts the Cripescast podcast where he has meaningful conversations with a wide range of guests, including musicians, headlining comedians, dairy farmers, groundbreaking scientists, government officials, world-renown chefs, artists, business leaders, sports Hall of Famers, explorers, Olympians, and creators about their story and connections to the Midwest. In addition to Cripescast, Berens also co-hosts the Bellied Up podcast w/ “Myles The You Betcha Guy,” in which the two man belly up at a small-town bar every Thursday and take live calls from all over the Midwest and rest of the world.
In 2020, Charlie paired up with Horseshoes & Hand Grenades alum Adam Greuel to release the music/comedy album Unthawed. A blend of bluegrass, country, and Berens' comedy, the album hit number one on the Billboard Bluegrass chart and number six on the Billboard Comedy chart. The duo followed that recording with Dive Bar Dinner in 2023, which also made the Billboard charts. Most recently, the comedian was featured in a nationwide Target campaign, served as the ambassador for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin’s Annual Food for the Holidays Campaign and launched Berens Old Fashioned Brandy which is in stores across Wisconsin. Throughout all his work, Berens aims to connect with people through comedy and authenticity.
