Since the release of his Netflix special A New Day ,produced by longtime collaborator Chappelle, Rawlings has solidified his reputation as a dynamic force in comedy, captivating audiences worldwide as a standup, actor, and podcaster. Rawlings first broke out as Ashy Larry on the legendary sketch series Chappelle’s Show, later proving his acting range with standout roles on HBO’s The Wire (as Damien “Day-Day” Price), STARZ’s BMF, HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, and BET’s Twenties. His voice also reached millions as Dez in Pixar’s Oscar-winning blockbuster Soul. Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Alexandria, VA, Donnell also served in the U.S. Air Force in the late ’80s and early ’90s before launching his career.
