Bettendorf Public Library, 2950 Learning Campus Drive, Bettendorf IA

With the event co-presented by the World Affairs Council of the Quad Cities (WACQC) and the Bettendorf Public Library, the special lecture presentation Turkiye Beyond the Headlines: Culture, Food, and Everyday Life will be held at the library on April 28, this fascinating program offered by the married team of Yasemin and Seref Onder.

In the QACQC's latest presentation, Yasemin, an instructional designer and accessibility specialist at Kirkwood Community College, and Seref, an assistant professor and program director at Black Hawk College, will explore a deeper and more personal side of Türkiye (commonly known as Turkey) that often goes unnoticed in mainstream media. Instead of focusing on politics or news, it will highlight the country’s rich cultural heritage, shaped by centuries of history, traditions, and strong community values. Through stories and experiences shared by the Onders patrons at Turkiye Beyond the Headlines: Culture, Food, and Everyday Life will gain insight into what daily life in Türkiye is truly like.
