Widely considered the most popular and influential ballet of all time, composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's legendary Swan Lake comes to Davenport's Adler Theatre on October 8, its presentation the latest touring production by the nationally acclaimed World Ballet Company.
Swan Lake tells the tale of Odette, a beautiful princess transformed into a swan by the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart. As she is wooed, however, by the handsome Price Siegfried, Tchaikovsky's ballet celebrates the magic of love and loyalty, and explores the continued struggle between good and evil. One of the most scenically beautiful of all dance works, Swan Lake takes audiences to gorgeous lakesides and grand ballrooms, and boasting a live orchestra, World Ballet Company's Swan Lake features a cast of 50 international dancers, more than 150 radiant and hand-sewn costumes, and stunning hand-crafted sets. This spellbinding production captures Tchaikovsky's every heart-pounding moment, from the "Dance of the Little Swans" to the Black Swan’s 32 fouettés, and every pirouette in between.
