Springfield, IL: April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness about child

abuse and neglect and encourage individuals and communities to support and celebrate children and

families. Child Abuse Prevention Month was first designated in 1983 and since then, communities

across the nation have used this month long observance to increase awareness of child abuse and

promote education and prevention. Join Prevent Child Abuse Illinois, the Illinois Department of Children

and Family Services (DCFS), and our partners as we discuss current trends impacting families and

children in Illinois, how prevention and education programs are vital to families, and hear from a local

father who knows firsthand how these services impact lives.
