Bettendorf, IA- February 17, 2016 – Rivermont Collegiate Juniors, Manasa Pagadala and Emilia Porubcin, received word recently that their entries to The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have earned “Gold Key” recognition on the regional level. “In My Heart and in My Mind” by Manasa Pagadala and “Seasons of Slovakia” by Emilia Porubcin were both entries in the Personal Essay/Memoir category.

Each regional affiliate awards three levels or recognition: Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention. Belin-Blank describes the Gold Key award as recognizing “the very best works submitted to local programs.” All Gold Key works are automatically considered for national-level recognition. In addition, The Belin-Blank affiliate has named Emilia Porubcin’s piece an American Voice nominee. Regional jurors select the five gold key works from across all categories and all grades as “Best of Show” for American Visions and Voices designations.

The Connie Belin and Jacqueline N. Blank International Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development at the University of Iowa serves as the Iowa and Midwest Region-at-Large Affiliate for the program.
