CLIVE, Iowa – A Quad-Cities man was just one number away from winning a record-breaking Powerball jackpot last month and ended up winning a $50,000 prize.

Rick Powell of Moline, Ill. matched four white balls and the Powerball in the Jan. 13 drawing to win a $50,000 prize.

The winning numbers in that night’s world-record $1.586 billion jackpot drawing were: 4-8-19-27-34 and Powerball 10. The Power Play number was 2. Three tickets sold in three different states – California, Florida and Tennessee - split the jackpot. Wednesday’s jackpot is an estimated $236 million.

Powell purchased his winning ticket at Kwik Shop, 303 W. Locust in Davenport. He claimed his prize Monday at the lottery’s regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Winning numbers may be checked at the lottery website at www.ialottery.com or through the winning numbers hot line at (515) 323-4633. Winning numbers may also be checked with lottery retail outlets or by calling the lottery at (515) 725-7900 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
