For Immediate Release, Washington, DC – Diana Muchmore from Rowley, IA has been selected to represent the state of Iowa as a 2016 Mother of Achievement. She will serve as an ambassador for mothers across the country and will be recognized at an annual national conference in Washington DC on April 26, 2016, where the National Mother of the Year will be named.

American Mothers Inc. ® is celebrating its 81st year of nationally honoring motherhood, educating on issues impacting mothers and children at home, at work and in the world.  American Mothers recognizes the contributions and commitment to family and community that moms exhibit on a daily basis.

Diana Muchmore was born and raised on a farm near Monticello, Iowa. After graduating from nursing college, she married Robert Muchmore, started a business, and had three children. Family is Diana’s first priority. As her family grew, Diana volunteered as a Girl Scout and 4-H Leader which her daughters’ pursued. When her children entered High School, Diana became a member and then President of the School Board, and was twice a presenter at the National School Board Conventions in California. After her children left home for college, she joined the Big Sisters of Iowa, taught parenting classes for teenage parents, and counseled families with substance and/or child abuse. Diana acted as liaison to a hospice the Board of Directors. She coordinated the Koala Volunteer program for Cedar Valley Hospice. Diana’s strong faith implored her to lend a helping hand meeting the elderly home bound weekly for visitation, communion, and to brighten their spirits.

For Immediate Release, Washington, DC – Margaret Lucas from Bedford, IA has been selected to represent the state of Iowa as a 2016 Mother of Achievement. Margaret sums up her century of life to "loving and living, caring and giving, growing and learning"
Margaret's life has been filled with service to others. She has served as a Sunday school teacher, educational board chairman, worked with church women's groups, served as state vice chairman for Missions and State President, and was on the national board as vice president for Christian Service. She spent much time as guest speaker and leadership trainer. She helped organize Church Women United in her town and Lioness Club. Margaret was Iowa Merit Mother in 1974 and organized Young Mother groups in three towns. She received a national award for her work with the groups and was a sponsor for 28 years. She held Bible study in her home twice a month for 29 years. Over the years she has opened her home to many children needing a place to stay when there were issues at home. She is an organizer. Margaret still found time to hand piece and quilt over 100 quilts.
Margaret was selected from nominees from Iowa as a Mother of Achievement due to her outstanding service and exceptional contribution to the support of motherhood and surrounding communities.

Nominees are individuals who make a significant contribution to improve the lives of mothers and children in her community and/or the nation but she does not need to have children to qualify.
