Galesburg, Illinois – In a statement yesterday, Vice President Joe Biden endorsed Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-East Moline) in her race for U.S. House against Republican candidate Patrick Harlan (R-Galesburg). Biden argued that Bustos is a "champion" for Illinois families. Unfortunately, Illinois families know that is not the case.

Patrick Harlan released the following statement:

"When it comes to supporting Illinois families, Cheri Bustos consistently votes the wrong way, siding with corporate elites and party interests over the people she was elected to represent. We need a representative in Congress who will protect manufacturing, support the Rock Island Arsenal and our military, and fight for farmers in our district. If elected in November, Illinois families can rest assured that I will have their back in Washington."

Bustos voted NO on H.R. 4775, the Ozone Standards Implementation Act

  • The National Association of Manufacturers stated on the day of the vote that a vote against H.R. 4775 would add "another layer of red tape that will hold back job creation."
Bustos voted NO on H.R. 4909, the National Defense Authorization Act
  • Bustos showed she is no friend to the Rock Island Arsenal or our military by voting against critical legislation that funds thousands of jobs in the Quad Cities and supports hundreds of thousands of American military.
Bustos voted NO on S.J. Res 22
  • This bill, introduced by Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), if fully passed into law, would stop onerous over-regulation from the Corps of Engineers and the EPA. Bustos favors more government to over-regulate farmers' fields, ditches, streams, and ponds.
