Yesterday, in conjunction with the Scott County Fire Chief’s Association, my office requested, and was granted, a burn ban for Scott County, effective at 5:00pm yesterday. With the drying conditions, the harvest operations underway and the lack of significant rainfall in the forecast, the risk of field and vegetation fires is running very high. This ban will remain in place until such time that the risk is reduced and we request the ban to be lifted.

While this ban does not remove all of the fire risks associated with this time of year and with harvest, it does help to mitigate some potential fire risks. Please share this information with your viewers and subscribers to help raise awareness for the current fire danger.
