The Community Caring Conference will be hosting the annual National Night Out to fight crime picnic on Tuesday, August 2, starting at 5:30 at the Sunset Park shelter in Rock Island. Target volunteers will be on hand to serve free hot dogs, chips and drinks. Mayor Pauley will attend and speak. Rock Island Police and Fire units will give demonstrations of their services to the residents of the city. Representatives from the Rock Island County Sheriffs department will also be on hand. City officials have been invited to give comments on the role of neighborhood policing in fighting crime in our city.  Current Block Captains will be recognized along with serving CCC Board members.  Kids’ activities are scheduled too.  All residents of Rock Island are invited to this event to show their support for crime prevention.

The Community Caring Conference was organized to bring neighbors together to meet one another and to discuss common issues.  For over 40 years, CCC has been working with the Rock Island police to find solutions in crime prevention and bring about awareness.  This mutual effort has led to better collaboration and communications.

Currently, the CCC is rebuilding its efforts by seeking funds to hire a part time organizer. Announcement of this action will take place in the near future as well as a posting for this position.  Citizens who want to organize a Block Club or want to know more information, can go to Facebook or send email to rockislandccc@gmail.com.

The current Board of Directors includes:  Paul Fessler, Chairman; Lt. Rusty Hocker, Vice-Chair, Ethel Bassett, Secretary, and Jeff Barnes, Treasurer.  Additional members are Mattie Seward, Rev. Ken Kuenning, Jeff Novak, Rick Miers, and Phil Dennis.  Pat Ward, former Director of the CCC, is helping advice the new Board.
