See the Cubs Next Year, Get a Better Seat at the Office, Stay Somewhere Fashionable, and More!

Rock Island, IL: "This year" finally came for the 2016 World Series Champions Chicago Cubs, and if you want to see if they can continue their winning streak, the Classic Wrigley Field Rooftop Experience silent auction package at Food For Thought might just be the ticket.

The Rock Island Public Library Foundation fundraiser, Thursday night from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Rock Island Main Library, supports the library's literacy efforts with a wide range of ways to bid and win at the silent auction. The home run item may be the Cubs Rooftop experience for two, which includes watching a Chicago Cubs 2017 regular season game from one of the official rooftop partners across from Wrigley Field. Also included: Rooftop dining package of beverages, entrees, side dishes and desserts, three-night hotel stay and daily breakfast. Bidding for this Chicago getaway starts at $1,800, and more than one couple may win.

Additional premier items include a HON basyx office chair with multiple comfort settings, getaway stays at luxury and historic hotel properties in the US, including The Brown Hotel in Louisville and the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine, and a Window Washing package for your home. Items from local businesses and artisans include a Spring pickup from Doo Dah Daves, hand-knit beret and crocheted earrings from LDW Knits, jewelry from Inspired Design, and a Quad City International Airport gift basket.

For those who prefer a sure thing, the event offers a $25 gift card pull, a $20 mystery wine pull, and a $7 Bookends Literary Soap, homebrewed exclusively for Food for Thought by earthfaeries. The custom blend starts with the distinctive vanilla and floral odor of old books, with added notes of lavender, cedar wood, and coffee beans.

Food for Thought invites guests to "Grow Your Love of Reading" with a night of dining on generous appetizers, entrees and desserts from local chefs, tasting craft beers and wines, listening to music by RiverCity6, bidding on silent auction items, and enjoying shush-free conversation amongst the book stacks. All food, beverage, and entertainment is included in the $40 admission.

Guests may pay at the door with cash, check, or credit card, or drop off a cash or check payment in advance. RSVPs are requested. Walk-in guests are welcome as well. For more information, please call Kathy Lelonek, Foundation director, at 309-732-7326 or email RIPLFoundation@gmail.com.
