Mr. Faust shares that the Alternative Theatre Company is “a venue for original works and alternative performances...by, for and about LGBT topics...an opportunity to see original theatre at its finest.” Faust got his start in QC area theater with a now-defunct group called Unsafe Ensemble back in 1994. Unsafe specialized in cutting-edge original theater, plays that no one else was doing. “As much as I love doing familiar shows, original theater holds a special place in my heart. Hence, the birth of Alternative Theatre Company (ATC).”
For the past 20+ years, he has performed in musicals, comedies, dramas, murder-mysteries, as well as a few independent films. Some of his favorite roles include Leroy in "Bad Seed" and Ruben in "Escanaba in da Moonlight" (Richmond Hill), Dad in "Leaving Iowa" (Playcrafters), and Uncle Billy in "It's a Wonderful Life" (QC Music Guild). He hasn’t directed in nearly 20 years, the last time being in 1997 with an original show entitled "All in the Family," about a world in which 90% of the population is gay, and one young man realizes he's "different." Reception was good, even selling out the last performance. That show also starred Dana Moss-Peterson in the lead role, as well as John Turner, both of whom return to the stage in "Dad and Me."
Faust describes the play as “an original adult comedy with heart” that is recommend for adult and/or teen audiences only. The plot involves Brian, a carefree gay guy, working at the only gay bar in town, but his world is turned upside down when his aging father comes to live with him in his small apartment. Blood may be thicker than water, but first, they have to survive each other. The all-star cast includes: Dana Moss-Peterson, John Turner, Adam Cerny, Chris Sanders Ring, Sara Meyer, Kevin Keck, Jim Strauss and JJ Wielenga. Production staff includes: Cynthia Safford (Stage Manager), Jordan L. Smith (Producer) and Craig and Jacqueline E Cohoon (Tech).
