Rock Island, IL: Nearly three-quarters of all Americans take at least one prescription drug, and many also add non-vitamin supplements into the mix. How many of those pills and supplements are necessary? Can Americans stop "sweeping it under the drug?"

Clinical pharmacist and holistic health advocate Dr. Cathy Rosenbaum believes the answer to that question is yes. She will speak on integrated health and wellness at 2:00 pm on Friday, Sept. 23 at the Rock Island Main Library, 401 19th Street. Her remarks on integrating evidence-based body, mind, and spiritual practices into your personal health and wellness "tool kit" are based on more than 15 years of experience in health consulting and coaching. Dr. Rosenbaum traveled to China in 2002 to study global healthcare practices and herbal research, and has devoted considerable time to studying the overuse of prescriptions and dietary supplements.

Her book, Don't Sweep it Under the Drug, combines her pharmacology background with a comprehensive approach to health and wellness. Rosenbaum does not exclude prescriptions, but also encourages readers to add other health improvements, such as sleep, whole foods, exercise, stress management and regular use of evidence-based, non-traditional practices.

Though she now lives in Ohio, Dr. Rosenbaum grew up in Rock Island. She is the founder and CEO of a health care consulting firm, RX Integrative Solutions. Dr. Rosenbaum earned a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati, a Masters in Business Administration degree, Registered Pharmacist (RPh) and health coaching (CHC) certifications.

The hour-long presentation is free and does not require registration.
