Rock Island, IL  May 3, 2016 - Explore the musical culture of Ireland and Scotland, as well as the distinguished past and future of a community theater institution with free events at Rock Island Library this May.

The Celtic music trio of Greenmore will perform at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 11 at the Rock Island Main Library, 401 19th Street. The performance, by the trio of Rob Dahms, Joe Nobling, and Howard Hilliard, features uplifting Irish and Scottish tunes on button accordion, banjo, bodhran, fiddle, guitar and mandolin.

Don Wooten, founder and original director of Genesius Guild, will speak on The Genesius Guild: Past, Present and Future, at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 18, also at the Main Library. On the Guild's 60th year of bringing Greek and Shakespearean theater to summer nights in Lincoln Park, Wooten will lift the curtain on the beginnings of the Rock Island theater guild, its place in history and QC culture, and future plans to ensure that the play goes on.

In other events, the May Coloring for Adults program will be offered at 6:00 pm on Monday, May 23 at the Main Library. The monthly coloring session is a week earlier than usual due to the Memorial Day holiday.

All events are free and open to the public.
