McCain vows to continue obstruction if Hillary Clinton is elected
DES MOINES, Iowa – After months of unprecedented obstruction of President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Arizona Republican John McCain pledged to stand against any nomination that Hillary Clinton makes if she becomes president.
In a radio interview this morning, McCain said, "I promise you that we will be united against any Supreme Court nominee that Hillary Clinton, if she were president, would put up.” Given that Chuck Grassley, who is leading the current obstruction as Senate Judiciary Committee chairman, has a history of changing his position on when or whether he will hold a hearing, it’s vital that he tell voters whether or not he agrees with McCain.
“Iowans are sick of the Republican gridlock and political games on the Supreme Court,” said Patty Judge Spokesperson Sam Roecker. “Given the unprecedented obstruction that Chuck Grassley has led, it wouldn’t be surprising if he agreed with John McCain’s plan to continue holding the Supreme Court vacancy hostage under a Clinton presidency. It’s time to end the partisan games and start fighting for working families again – it’s more critical than ever that we change the leadership in the U.S. Senate.”
