Rock Island, IL: Learn more about the drive to restore the Rock Island County Civil War soldiers' monument at a free public program at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, July 26, at the Rock Island Main Library, 401 19th Street.

Doug Lambert, chair of the Quad Cities Civil War Roundtable, and Capt. Ron Erickson of the Rock Island County Sheriff's Department will present an update on the project to restore the Civil War Soldier and Monument at the Rock Island Library Courthouse. Their presentation will also include what they've learned about the men honored on the monument since starting the effort to repair the badly deteriorated statue in February 2015.

The Civil War Monument program is free and open to the public. For more upcoming library events, visit library locations or the website at www.rockislandlibrary.org, follow Rock Island Library on Facebook or Twitter or call 309-732-READ (7323).
