DAVENPORT, Iowa – May 13, 2016 -- The Genesis Health Services Foundation recently awarded $118,000 in scholarships at the annual nursing recognition event.

Five St. Ambrose University students working baccalaureate degrees in nursing received $10,000 scholarships. The five are Sydney Bender, a sophomore from Bettendorf; Alexandria Finn, a junior from Davenport; Tori Matzen, a junior from Orion, Ill.; Michaela Meyer, a junior from Muscatine; and Nolan Muhl, a sophomore from DeWitt, Iowa.

Genesis employees receiving $2,500 scholarships toward completion of their BSN degrees are Lindsey Burken, VNA/Hospice; Brian Campbell, emergency department, GMC, Davenport; Bobbie Derrick, intensive care, GMC, Davenport; Aaron Hartzler, surgical, GMC, Silvis; Kimberly Higby, Center for Weight Management, GMC, Davenport; Kelly Hornick, BirthCenter, GMC, Silvis; Michelle Martin, NICU, GMC, Davenport; Danielle Shima, surgical specialty, GMC, Davenport; and, Abigail Streitmatter, emergency department, GMC, Davenport.

Genesis nurses awarded MSN degree completion scholarships of $2,500 or $4,000 were Amy Anderson, cardiac stepdown unit, GMC, Davenport; Jennifer Brooks, patient care services, GMC, Silvis; Laura Carson, emergency department, GMC, Silvis; Ellen Davis, Wound Institute, GMC, Davenport; Jenna Lenz, surgical, GMC, Silvis; Angela Mecham-Ainsworth, emergency department, GMC, Davenport; Joel Moore, Cancer Care Institute, GMC, Davenport; Jessica Mueller, patient services, GMC, Davenport; Kim Nimrick, BirthCenter, GMC, Davenport; Jodi Ott, emergency, GMC, Davenport; and, Sherri Ulfig, administration, GMC, Silvis.
