(DES MOINES) – Gov. Terry Branstad issued the following statement on learning of the passing of Richard O. Jacobson:

“Dick was an Iowa business icon and someone who relished in his philanthropic efforts around the country,” said Branstad.  “Dick was a native of Belmond, Iowa and was very generous to his hometown as well as educational institutions and our state universities.  He also gave the largest gift to Mayo Clinic they had every received of $100 million.  For his philanthropic and service efforts, Dick received the Iowa Award in 2012.  He will be greatly missed.”
