DES MOINES, Iowa – As Donald Trump has continued his dangerous rhetoric questioning the legitimacy of U.S. elections, despite no evidence to support the claim, Chuck Grassley has remained notably silent on the issue.

Donald Trump’s social media posts and public statements claiming there is a conspiracy to rig the upcoming election have elicited no response from Trump ally Senator Grassley. Earlier today Republican Secretary of State Paul Pate held a press conference to reassure voters about the security of the election process.

Meanwhile, Chuck Grassley has remained silent on Trump’s comments. As chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Grassley has a constitutional duty to uphold the right to vote and should speak out on this attempt to discredit the electoral process.

“Chuck Grassley’s pattern of silence, whether Trump brags about sexual assault, attacks veterans, or questions the legitimacy of U.S. elections without evidence shows a remarkable lack of leadership. Chuck Grassley – the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee – is condoning by silence, Donald Trump’s absurd and dangerous conspiracy theories that seek to undermine the democratic process in a dangerous and unprecedented way,” said Patty Judge. “Republicans like Chuck Grassley have enabled Trump’s continued outrageous and dangerous statements. Chuck Grassley needs to stop enabling Donald Trump, finally stand up to him, and rescind his endorsement. It’s time for him to finally put his country before his party.”
