DAVENPORT, Iowa – Nov. 29, 2016 – The Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health at Genesis has been certified as a Quality Center of Excellence by the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers.

The Genesis-based center is only the second breast health center in Iowa to earn the Center of Excellence designation by the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers (NQMBC).

The Center of Excellence certification level is the highest of NQMBC. Center of Excellence certification recognizes a center’s quality performance as meeting quality standards criteria.

“This is recognition for the high quality of care provided daily by our physicians and staff, but more importantly, it is a message to our patients that they can depend on us to provide a nationally recognized quality of care,’’ said Susan Herman, RN, BSN, coordinator of the Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health.

Breast health programs earning Center of Excellence certification apply for certification and must submit months of data to be considered.

The National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC) invites breast centers from across the United States to participate in its National Quality Measures for Breast Centers™ program (NQMBC).

Launched in April 2007, the NQMBC program offers facilities providing breast health care the ability to track and measure quality performance measures in more than 30 individual quality indicators. Participants enter their own data and immediately compare their performance on performance measures with other participating breast centers around the country.
