SERVING THE COMMUNITY AND BEYOND

Junior Achievement is now searching for volunteers from the business community for the 2015-16 school year. Available opportunities for Spring 2016 (beginning in Feb./March and ending in April/May): Bridgeview Elementary-Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade and Cody Elementary-2nd grade. Volunteers from the business world help the students connect the JA curriculum to real-life experiences.  Typically, our volunteers commit to teaching 5-7 classes that are 30-45 minutes long.  They can work with the teachers to determine how often they want to have the class (normally 1 per week).  We provide you with all the classroom materials at no cost, and they include step-by-step instructions on how to teach each lesson.  Volunteers may work alone or in pairs.  First-time volunteers will complete a 1 hour training session before entering the classroom. Link to detailed descriptions of what each grade is normally taught, and for an idea of which grade you would be comfortable teaching: http://jaheartland.org/who-we-are/programs/in-school/.  If you have a preference for a certain school or teacher, that request will be filled if possible.  For more information, contact: Cassandra Druhl, Education Manager, Junior Achievement of the Heartland, Folwell Education Center for Free Enterprise, 800 12th Avenue, Moline, IL  61265 - 309-277-3916 www.jaheartland.org
