October 9th – Apple Fest – LeClaire Lion’s Club LeClaire Levee 11a.m.-4p.m. Fun, family event that features apples, apple cider and a variety of homemade food items including pie, strudel, scones, and cupcakes. There will be a truckload of pumpkins and gourds. Other vendors include kettle corn and a wide variety of unique craft and gift items. The LeClaire Lions Club will be selling Chili, Brats, Hot Dogs, Chili Dogs, and Pork Chop Sandwiches. The QC Antique Car Club will be displaying their cars, and there will be a “Kids Only” area for a small fee. October 10th – Riverview Roadhouse – LeClaire Chili dog buffet fundraiser 6:00-8:00p.m. Suggested donation $6.00. Menu: Chili, Spicy, regular and white chicken, Chili dogs. Sgt Leevon Ritter Local soldier and Pleasant Valley High school graduate who died May 22, 2012 will be one of only 60 organ donors honored on the Donate Life Parade float in the 2017 Tournament of Roses Parade. Sgt Ritter’s family will be traveling to Pasadena December 28-January 3 to meet with other donor families, recipients and living donors. Funds raised will help with airfare, hotel and general event expenses. Any additional monies raised will go to help other donor families who have also been selected to honor their loved ones. 

 

October 11th – Chamber Networking – Crane & Pelican – noon – Please join us at the Crane & Pelican Café for the LeClaire Chamber of Commerce luncheon to hear about the services available through LeClaire’s partnership with the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors’ Bureau (QCCVB). The speakers from the QCCVB are Molly Otting Carlson and Lynn Hunt.

 

            Molly Otting Carlson, Vice President, Destination Development & Visitor Services - With destination development, she supports the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors’ Bureau (QCCVB) sales staff in making sure our local “product” (restaurants, hotels, and venues) is partnered with. She also acts as a government liaison with city councils, neighborhood groups, etc., and develops and maintains new programs such as FAM tours for our frontline staff that serves the visitor.

 

            Lynn Hunt’s, Vice President, Sales, main mission at the QCCVB is to bring new meetings, conventions, group tours, and sporting events to the area in an effort to create positive economic impact through visitor spending. The sales team works within the various group markets to identify group business that generates overnight stays, retail, food & beverage, and attraction revenues for our partners. 

 

 

 

October 12th - Meeting with Deb Flanders and James Engle, the Director of the Iowa Downtown Resource Center at the Iowa Economic Development Authority. 8:30am at the Medic EMS community room at 107 N. Cody Road, LeClaire. They are making an effort to provide more outreach to downtowns across the state and are scheduling brief (30-45 minute) visits statewide. They would like to tell us about the services of the Iowa Downtown Resource Center and will ask some questions. They are looking for statewide trends that will help them provide training on the right subject matters. October 15th - Public Paranormal Investigation (pre-registration is required) at the Buffalo Bill Museum 199 N. Front Street, LeClaire, IA. 8p.m.-? Join the Illinois Paranormal Research Group as they investigate the historic Buffalo Bill Museum in LeClaire.  During this unique experience, the public will be able to investigate the Lone Star, an 1890 Steam Boat along with other exhibits in the museum. The Illinois Paranormal Research Group conducted a private investigation at the museum on July 1, 2016; during the private investigation the group experienced activity in the museum exhibit spaces. This is your chance to tag along with an investigation group and perhaps witness activity for yourself. Space is very limited for the investigation.
