November 11th - Annual Soup Supper and Auction at Our Savior Presbyterian Church, Argo 22530 2405h Ave. Delicious homemade soups, sandwiches, desserts, beverage. Serving 5-7 pm. Auction starts at 6:30. All proceeds go to help those in need.

November 12th - 12th Annual Harvest Feast - Zion Lutheran Church – Princeton Everyone is welcome to join in sharing an evening of food, fun and fellowship 4:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. The menu features homemade beef stew, apple sauce, cold slaw and a variety of breads, desserts and drinks.  The cost is $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children. Children under 5 are free. The beef served is the well-known Sawyer Beef raised by Norman and Neal Sawyer on their Princeton Farm. Holly Mangels, co-chairman, states that the evening is a fundraiser for all of Zion’s local, national and international missions.  The Sunday School has just completed packing love boxes for 12 of our loved ones’ military members.  The boxes contained necessities, treats and prayer books. The live auction starts at 6:00 P.M.  There is always a wide variety of new items, party events, boat rides, dinner outings, sporting events and handmade jewelry. There will also be numerous items available for the silent auction. All adults are welcome to enjoy an evening of wine tasting. Zion Lutheran Church has served the local community for 165 years and is looking forward to continue serving for many years in the future.

Chamber member, Kathy Anderson, thanks the LeClaire community for their donations to the "LeClaire Basket" for Habitat for Humanity's annual fundraiser held last month. Over 300 people attended the event and raised over $40,000 to help future homeowners gain strength, stability and self-reliance through their purchase of an affordable home. Thank you, LeClaire!

 

 

 

Ten Scholarships Now Available. Ascentra Scholarship Competition offers $10,000 in Scholarships. Ascentra Credit Union is dedicated to creating opportunities for members to pay for higher education in the form of the Ascentra Credit Union Scholarship Competition.  The competition is now underway with a total of $10,000 in scholarships available to Ascentra members planning to further their education starting the 2017 – 2018 school year.  The ten scholarships are awarded to students as follows: Five $1,000 scholarships for high school students planning to enter college. Five $1,000 scholarships for members age 19 or over, considered non-traditional or continuing education students.  The scholarship entrants will be judged on a 500-word essay on the topic, “How do credit unions distinguish themselves from other financial institutions?”  All entries are judged on their essay, resume, awards, extracurricular activities, volunteer services and work experience.  Deadline for the Ascentra Scholarship Competition is March 1, 2017.  Applications and official rules may be picked up at any of our branches or found online at www.ascentra.org/scholarships. There members can find information on other scholarships.

 

 

 

Milestones Cafe, at the First Presbyterian Church, LeClaire, is looking for people to join them for lunch on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Eating at church, at the “Milestones Café” provides a social opportunity, a nutritious meal at an affordable price, a good reason to get out of the house and a break from cooking! Cost: for 60+ years of age, suggested donation is $3.50. For those under 60, cost is $8.50. If you are interested, call 855-410-6222, to RSVP for one or more meals. Additionally Milestones delivers meals to homebound seniors. Call the same number for that service.
