The Davenport Community Schools administration will be holding three listening sessions with the residents and business leaders who live and work within the current J.B. Young School boundary.  When J.B. Young closes as a school at the end of the 2015-2016 academic year, the Achievement Service Center will move into that space, however there will be plenty of room to  host services and programs that will benefit the community. The Davenport Community School District has sent out over 3900 letters asking for ideas from people residing and working in the neighborhood and in order to hear those ideas directly, They are holding three listening sessions during the month of February:

  • Wednesday, February 17 at 6 p.m. in the Cafeteria at the J.B. Young School
  • Tuesday, February 23 at 6 p.m. in the Third Missionary Baptist Church, 222 W. 14th Street, Davenport
  • Monday, February 29 at 6 p.m. at United Neighbors, 808 North Harrison Street, Davenport

The ideas shared during the course of these meetings will be carefully noted and shared with School Board members.

The next step will be to send out a call for letters of interest from those who believe they can provide value to the residents of the neighborhood. It’s important to us that you’re aware of the process in the event you hear anything in the community.

Please make note of these dates. They are all important to the Hilltop Campus Village and to our community.
