Living Lands & Waters (LL&W) is staying busy this spring with volunteer events, and they need your help! The first of many opportunities will kick off on Saturday, April 30 with an acorn planting at their tree nursery in Davenport, IA from 9am-12pm. Over 200,000 acorns will be planted to start the next cycle of oak trees for the MillionTrees Project.

Their third year of the Invasive Species Removal Project will also begin in May. Join LL&W as they chop, lop, and pull invasive honeysuckle from Illiniwek Forest Preserve in Hampton, IL. “We’ve made some significant progress in the last three years,” says Project Coordinator Dan Breidenstein, “745 volunteers have teamed with us to work on over 23 acres of land. It’s so rewarding to come back year after year and see the native plants returning to the area!”

Acorn Planting Info – Saturday, April 30 – 9am-12pm: This event will need up to 40 volunteers!  LL&W will provide lunch, and all supplies necessary to participate. Volunteers should be prepared to get dirty! To register now, visit: http://livinglandsandwaters.org/acorn-planting-registration-2/

About Living Lands & Waters – Chad Pregracke started Living Lands & Waters in 1998 as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the beautification and restoration of America’s major rivers and the education of environmental issues. From his single boat beginning, LL&W has grown to an industrial strength, internationally known organization with a fleet of barges and workboats.  LL&W engages thousands of volunteers each year in river cleanups, hands-on environmental education workshops, the Great Mississippi River Cleanup, Adopt-a- River-Mile program, Invasive Species Removal, and the Million Trees Project.
