Rock Island, IL: The Rock Island Main Library at 401 19th Street will close early at noon on Thursday, November 10 to accommodate a special event from the Rock Island Public Library Foundation, Food for Thought.

 

Library patrons may conduct library business at the Rock Island 30/31 Branch, 3059 30th Street, open until 8:00 pm, and the Rock Island Southwest Branch, 9010 Ridgewood Road, open until 5:30 pm. Book drops will also be open.

 

Food for Thought invites guests to "Grow Your Love of Reading" and support library literacy activities with a night of dining on generous appetizers, entrees and desserts from local chefs, tasting craft beers and wines, listening to music by RiverCity6, bidding on silent auction items, and enjoying shush-free conversation amongst the book stacks. Ten chefs and beverage providers will be offering tastes of local foods, beers, wines at the event. Soft drinks are also available. All food, beverage, and entertainment is included in the $40 admission.

 

Guests may pay at the door with cash, check, or credit card, or drop off a cash or check payment in advance. RSVPs are requested. Walk-in guests are welcome as well. For more information, please call Kathy Lelonek, Foundation director, at 309-732-7326 or email RIPLFoundation@gmail.com.

 

Foundation grants to the library support special purchases of materials and equipment, programs, improvements, and beautification projects  that fall outside of the library's normal operating budget. Donations to the 501(c)3 Rock Island Public Library Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
